Totally agree. Wish this should be added.

    Yes, please! Make this happen.

I think the individual boosts feature they are supposedly planning is stupid. I get that maybe from a business perspective it is a good idea to make it so only $10 subscribers can boost servers. But realistically, it isn't. Because most people won't bother to pay $5 extra per month to boost a server. If anything, it only reduces the value of the Classic Nitro, making people less intrigued to make any purchase at all.

I suggest making it an option for both subscriptions to use the feature. It will be good for business either way. By allowing both options to use the feature, you increase the value of both subscriptions instead of decreasing the value of classic, and not making any change to the $10 option.

Yeah, I totally agree. People might buy nitro classic for boosting, not the more expensive regular nitro. So I think you would not only keep your users happier, but also make more money. Plus, I feel like its a bit unfair, since you already dont get a whole lot for $50 a year.

Maybe give classic one boost while normal nitro has 2.
it would work with a different suggestion I have seen that wanted a second boost.

  • MimPlays

All of the boosts benefit servers and chatting. So why lock it behind the one meant for games? People pay $4.99/month to support discord, it has no benefit beyond some animated emojis and using them in any server that allows them. Which is cool, but not worth $4.99. I pay it to support discord. Let the people who are paying for classic because they want to support you support their servers also. Because they are using it for voice communication and not as a game launcher. They might have no interest in the games you have available, so why force people to get services they do not want/need just to make their server community better?

In your own article describing the differences between Nitro and Nitro Classic, you describe them as follows: "Nitro Classic offers perks for chat, Nitro includes those same chat perks, with the addition of GAMES". Simple, right? That's what I thought too...

Do you see our point when we feel like we were misled? There was no indication, hint or mention whatsoever that a new feature was coming and made exclusive to the highest tier of Nitro. In fact, I would consider "Server Boosting" a perk for chat, rather than GAMES

  • enCore.eXe

Or give the server owner the opportunity to boost the server without Nitro, I don't need all these games, but I would pay $10-15 to get a Tier 3 server for me and my friends. We are trying to replace teamspeak, unfortunately the connection is not always satisfying.

I support the suggested solution here to give Nitro Classic users 1 boost/month and regular Nitro 2 boosts instead. There are a lot of servers out there, that 1 boost doesn't seem like enough to begin with!

  • 🌈 for hugs

i whole heartedly agree with this. but i also believe that it could be a great way for more people to get nitro because if you have classic nitro as a option for boosting then more and more people will get nitro subsequently leading to more money and more profit

  • TychoDragon

    I agree.

Premium Nitro was supposed to be everything in regular Nitro, plus games, the addition of server boosting should be no different. I want to support my server, but damn, $10's a month? I'm not saying it's an outrageous price, but I don't need the games. I want to support my server with the addition to the chat perks, but not for 10 bucks a month.

  • photosoup

    I second that.

  • Null

Definitely +1 to everyone else pointing out that classic was meant to provide just the chat features and separate the extra cost of the games from the traditional subscription for more functionality. Though I currently get a boost as a grandfathered nitro classic subscriber, it's definitely my feeling that the features provided by even the high tiers of boost (like 100M upload for everyone) are much more in-line with the expectations of what classic supporters are paying for.

Everyone's still supporting Discord for the chat features, and the net $250/mo from a level 10 server of classic subscribers should more than offset the extra bandwidth their server would be using from better quality voice or big uploads. If bandwidth were to become a problem (like very large servers using 1TB+ a month through tons of 100M uploads and hours of HQ voice) then maybe adding a sane bandwidth cap before reverting to "classic" limits (or at least a lower tier) until the next month with extra allowance for higher (above 10) levels. If bandwidth cost is the motivation here and a level 10 of classic subscribers isn't cutting it for that level of service, the solution should be to adjust the points granted to member types and/or point thresholds so that it works out in a way that's favorable for everyone. Discord doesn't go broke on bandwidth costs, classic users get the perks and aren't left to pay double or perish (should they want to boost a server they main), and premium users would still get that little extra something for their additional contribution per month.

Main TL;DR argument: Please stay in the spirit of how you originally designed and portrayed nitro premium/classic and grant classic users the ability to boost too. If bandwidth/money is the concern, rework your system rather than crap on old supporters when their grandfather ends / new supporters who don't want or can't afford or justify the games.

  • photosoup

Yes. Nitro Premium is supposed to be everything in regular Nitro and then games. Why is server boosting any different? I would definitely buy Nitro if server boosting was included.

People in my severs are getting shoutouts, perks, etc when they get nitro boosted but here I am I don't want real nitro as I DON'T WANT THE GAMES but if I get Classic, then I won't be able to boost. Like kimbjo said, the full nitro is for GAMES, and now Classic members are getting kicked to the curb. How bout $1/month or less add on for classic for boosting, and full nitro still has it included.

  • Forgi_Forgeth
I think nitro classic should boost to some extent.
  • Traveller

I completely agree. boosting should be for all nitro users. i can understand the extra money for the game pass but not the server upgrade

  • Rian8337

To be fair, they could've just made 2 Nitro classic boosts worth a full Nitro boost.

  • Alureon

Yeah, it's honestly unfair. Paying double the cost for all those perks that I wouldn't even use is useless just to be able to boost.

  • Alureon

    100% agree

  • NanoAi

I completely agree with this I wouldn't even mind paying like an extra dollar a month or $62 a year just to be able to boost my favourite servers.

    I'm irrationally upset about this...

    My Math: ( 5 * 12 ) - 10 = 50, so ( 6 * 12 ) - 10 = 62.

I'm irrationally upset about this... (Yes I posted this in other places, but this seems to be the biggest and most active one.)

  • CatLSN

I see no need to buy the games if you don't play them especially for mobile and mac users who cant use the games at all. and classic nitro is just chat perks right? isn't the boost to help the server get chat perks? I think it would be better for classic to have rather than the new one.

  • NathanNorth
Yeah, i liked the suggestion, please do this Discord
  • Faith

I came here to make this exact suggestion.
I can't see the majority of people using the 9.99 version, I would assume the vast majority use the 4.99 version for the chat features, I could be wrong of course but that's what I assume at least, so it would make more sense for the classic version to also be able to boost. I would like to do this for my server for the guild I run but I can't because no one uses the 9.99 version and we have a member total of 78 members (and growing), more people use the classic version. : (
    Please consider this!

  • apex

at the end of the day boosting a server gives the server perks such as more emojis and higher upload limits. in case discord hadn't noticed, they're CHAT PERKS, which was what nitro classic is designed for!

  • Kai

I totally support this. I currently have the Grandfather subscription (paying for Classic but getting all the perks) which wears off in 2020, but I don't even use the games. Every now and then I might play a few rounds of ZombsRoyale but that's it. Server Boosting is a really neat thing but paying for something that I'll almost never use is a bit baloney. I think you guys should have tinkered around a bit more during the beta and came up with some ways Classic users can join in on the fun too, perhaps Nitro users can vote on 3–5 guilds while Classic is limited to only one.

  • seanwlk

I honestly thought it was a one time thing, I don't like subscriptions. Not even nitro itself. I'd pay once for a service that gives me something permanent but what's the point to pay 9.99 for a discord role? And you don't even get anything because it has to be gifter.
