Agreed, bump, of course it should only clear on your side, and maybe even a way to bring it back if only one person cleared in, but if both sides clear it, its going to clean a lot of discord hard drive space, you know what i mean? This isnt just useful for us

Would be awesome to be able to completely clear out messages, having the option to delete all messages, and have delete all messages after Said time frame, so on.

Thanks, this would im sure help the discord servers from having to cache all that useless data.

Agreed tbh , people should be able to delete their dms with somebody they have spoken with and by that i mean by deleting all the messages involving yours and the other person' messages , this would be very useful.

I just want to delete conversations on MY end of things. I don't care if the other person keeps it. No, being able to 'close' the convo does not help, because the next time they speak to me or I go to speak to them, it's still there. I don't want to delete ONLY my messages in the conversation, what's the point in that? That also deletes it from their history, and, like I said, I really don't care if they keep the conversation or not. I'm not the only one that uses this computer and I don't need people nosing around in my private messages if I forget to sign out.

yes please.  If this is like text messages, then each stream with one person needs a clean function. Just think of all the storage you all would save Discord!

@Yqsos made a very great point you can read it here it is in English in case you want to read it                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                  'What many people are asking for is that since you can already delete messages individually, as a salon administrator I should be able to enable an option to automatically delete all messages in my chat window without having to delete about 50 messages by hand each day. I also specify that I have activated in Discord the option, "do not keep message history" By activating this option, each time Discord is closed, text messages are deleted. But this only among the members of the show. However, if the automatic deletion on closing works very well for them, in the living for meroom , my software Discord as administrator, keeps all the histories. What I am asking is that as a teamviewer, Mumble, skype etc.... we should be able to activate the deletion mode of all text messages automatically also as an administrator in my text window. It should be remembered that the lounges are private and moderate. Also, if a member does not respect the charter, harasses, is grocier, incites violence or any illegal act, he is immediately ejected from the show. There is therefore no point in keeping the history of the texts in this context. On the other hand, if someone wants to keep information displayed in the text message window, or evidence for example in case of harassment as mentioned above, the person can always save the messages individually. In short, due to rare, limited and marginal specific cases, the vast majority of users of the Discord software are forced to waste time and have to carry out tedious message deletion procedures. This option of automatic deletion on closing Discord, could be integrated into Discord as the background of its competitors. Discord could provide the possibility for administrators to be able to check or not the box "enable automatic deletion on closing of text messages", Finally, the principle of the Right to Privacy. As Discord is used all over the world this right may vary from one country to another. All the more reason to allow room administrators to have the possibility to delete or not text messages at home in their Discord. If members want to keep the texts, that is their problem. On the issue of private protection. It is specified that In the private lounge xplane we only talk about the flight simulator and nothing more. Being personally in the regulatory process, it is out of the question to deal with illegal and immoral subjects. Enabled the option in my living room not to keep history all text messages are automatically deleted from members when they leave Discord. I took this choice as administrator because I don't want to discover one day a member who has left our group, that he publishes out of context a text message from our group when I have no way of controlling how he will use it... Certainly we have nothing to hide but it is dangerous to leave this door open so I prefer deleting text messages every night'

To add on though, I really think this would be an amazing feature, when it comes down to it things such as break ups, arguments between friends and family happen WAY more often than harassment and such. Don't get me wrong if someone is getting harassed or bullied it shouldn't be overlooked but when it comes down to it you can simply grab a screenshot and that's that, you have the proof. On the other hand forcing people who want to wipe their history with a certain someone is outrageous. There should be a simple feature allowing the removal of all the messages you've sent to a certain person instantly on both sides. If someone wishes to keep/save messages it's completely their responsibility to keep it archived. Discord adding a feature to allow the removal of all messages sent to someone on the press of a button would save an extensive amount of time and on top of that is a great way to keep everything fresh and clean for those who wish so. This feature should've been already added, it does way more good than bad, and it should get added as soon as possible.

To be honest, I’m tired of seeing these DM’s and I want them cleared. I like looking at a blank screen. However, I totally agree with a few of the users opinions in those who suffer from abuse. An abusive person who is trying to control the discord user could potentially see messages they were not meant to see and this could trigger an attack. This is actually a serious issue.

Still not sure as to why this feature hasn't been implemented yet. It is such a privacy concern, and there are many instances where I want to respect the integrity of others. Having both sides resorting to using a script to slowly remove messages from both accounts is a nightmare that shouldn't even be a solution. Please, you advocate for privacy and yet you reject us something that so many other companies have given us for years.

I had someone send me some inappropriate photos and video links and now I can't delete it from my DMs. I can close it but I can't remove it. We need to be able to delete messages or photos from DMs.

I'm absolutely appalled that this isn't a standard feature, honestly. The end users have a right to privacy that clearly isn't being upheld here. The fact that the messages stick around even if the account is deleted and the program uninstalled is very worrisome. There is absolutely no reason that a messaging platform in this day and age shouldn't have a way for users to delete their messages.

I've considered deleting my account simply so I don't have to see the messages someone sent me that I can't delete. Sometimes it's not as simple as block the person, especially if they're part of work or school or something.

This option should be already there cuz if you were bullied or private information of yours are posted in a dm (which you shouldn't be doing anyways) there should be an option which deletes both peoples chat so they can't find you if you're trying to hide from ppl that know some things that can be revealed to others so you don't need to make another account.

Apparently they STILL have zero intentions of implementing this feature.  I sent a tweet and they replied with "no talks of it but continue to advocate at (link: http://dis.gd/feedback) dis.gd/feedback!"
    *sigh*
I'm going to try to get more friends to post here, maybe if enough of us comment and bump this thread we can get some manpower on this.
RALLY THE TROOPS Y'ALL!!  Get them posting here!!! <3

Why is this NOT a feature yet, Discord? I don't need to see some of the things people send in a DM. Sure, "Closing" the DM hides it from me, but it still exists in my account. Make this a thing please. Delete DM history like any other instant messaging app in the history of instant messaging apps. Thanks. Still love you. K bye. o7

Yes. Please. I don't want to have to block people, especially if they are no longer annoying me. I do however need to delete entire chat histories that I really do not want to be reminded of... I'm referring to private messages and stuff. Nothing to do with removing messages from channels in server. Would be appreciated. Thank you.

Is anyone from Discord development even reading this?  So many people all in agreement about a missing feature yet not a word, not any indication of this will ever become a thing.

i fully agree i dont feel comfortable having private chats with someone on discord because i cant delete the chat history fully so it can always b used against u in a later stage deleting message 1 by 1 doesn't help

CodingDino brings up a great point. Until this feature is added, discord is at a higher risk for GDPR lawsuits.
