Note! The report functionality is still being rolled out slowly to all of our users. Some of you guys will have it, but some won't. No worries there, it'll be fully fleshed out super soon!
Although Discord can be an awesome way to join large new communities and connect with tons of new people, that kind of freedom does leave way for some less-than-well-intentioned people.
Who knew the true face of evil would wear so much pink?
In the case that you do stumble upon content or messages that you didn't want to see in the first place, there are a few option utilizing our report button that you can use to help us find and put a stop to the unsightliness.
Reporting a DM:
Next to any message within a DM you'll be able to find a small opening menu that contains the report option:
An important part to keep in mind is that the report button will only be available in DMs with users that aren't already your friend. If a friend of yours is sending you unpleasantry you don't want to see at all, consider un-friending them.. then use the report button at your discretion.
Within the report menu, you'll have the option to select a few different reason of reporting:
This option pertains to explicitly illegal content. Child pornography and solicitation of minors, as well as actionable threats or plans of violence. We take these topics VERY seriously and will take necessary actions to review and at upon the information if reported in a timely fashion.
Threats, actions, or plans of harassment towards any individual or group of users on Discord is unacceptable and not tolerated by Discord.
Spam or Phishing Links:
Users or userbots that send repeated or spammy requests to join a server or dubious links that may result in personal information being compromised
User sharing info that they are at risk or claim intent of self-harm.
With all of these topics in mind, It's important to note that any reports of any of the above mentioned topics won't go to server owners- they'll be delivered straight to our support team.
Safety Jim(s) says: "Stay safe! I'm here to help!"
Once you submit the report, we'll take a look through it, review the information, and take action where necessary.
Important note: If you're in a server's text channel that's been labeled NSFW, The NSFW report option won't be available to be selecting in the report menu. Ya know, if the content is neatly sorted to the place it's meant to be, then no harm, no foul. If NSFW material shows up in a non-NSFW labeled channel, then that's not cool, and can be reported as needed.
