Three Steps to a Safer Account Zencha July 16, 2018 23:48 Updated Follow One of our core philosophies is to empower you with the ability to stay safe on Discord at the level of your choosing. For those looking to amp up their account's safety and security, here’s a quick guide on what to do. Step 1. Set up 2FA 2FA (Two-Factor Authentication) provides the most secure method in protecting your account. We take use of Google Authenticator, Authy, and other authenticator apps to use a second device in order to authorize access to your account. Go to User Settings -> My Account to turn on 2FA, or check out this article for more info! Step 2. Password Hygiene Having a good password is the ultimate key to a protected account. Make sure to check out password managers like 1Password (Mac) or Dashlane (Windows) which make creating and storing secure passwords a breeze. Step 3. Choose Privacy Settings Not all friends of friends need to be your friends. With Privacy settings, you can customize who can send you direct messages on a per-server basis, as well as who can add you as a friend. All of these settings can be customized individually for each server you're in. We also offer the option to block users so that you no longer have to see their messages. For a good, safe start, go to User Settings -> Privacy & Safety and check out the options. You can copy the settings listed here for a good start!
