This is a cool feature. I think it would also be a good addition if you could set it up so that anything posted in the announcements channel popped up as a notification to all the users currently on the server.

Nice suggestion Mother Prussia. I'll pass this along. For now, if you start a message with @everyone Discord will send out the message as a notification.

Yeah, I've also set an announcement channel on my server for now. What do you think about adding an announcement area on the '#general' channel? I'd love to add a custom welcome message for my guests that is always being displayed on top of the '#general' channel.

Pinning a post is on our roadmap and should be coming out in the near future.

How do I make a permanent announcement?
Really would like to post a little intro text with a few bits of practical information and sticky that at the top.

Put it in the AFK room and make it so everyone can see message history, but cannot post. That should do it, acrisis.

@acrisis I imagine you'd be able to edit the first post at the top, and in that way, basically make it a stickied announcement.

@Dan What's not working for you? What step are you having trouble on?

Dan, you're definitly doing something wrong. This works, or you should move the Announcements role to the top.

How do you make an announcements channel with differing roles? For instance, you have a People role and a Staff role. But when I do the X for @everyone not being able to send messages, my friend can still send things there. I did it for my other roles and she still can. How do I make it so only I can post there, even though I've checked X for send messages except my role?

@Master_Guardian Might want to double check and make sure no roles have the "administrator" permission. This will bypass channel-specific permissions and allow them to send messages.

How do i make an announcement show when someone joins the channel? [ instead of saying "welcome to ..... " ]

@Chollo_the_christmas_star Currently there's no in-app method other than manually sending a welcome message yourself, but you can download a bot to automatically make a welcome announcement for newcomers as well! (ex.https://www.carbonitex.net/Discord/bots)

@๖ۣ𝓩ยмвเяσ༻緑❥一✕ Sorry to hear that! Could you send in a message to support@discordapp.com with details of what you've tried so far to create the announcement channel, and we can see if there's a setting to change and to help get it working for you!

@ErinDwight If you're having some problems with setting up the announcement channel, can you send an email to support@discordapp.com with screenshots of your current settings, and we can double check what's happening for you!
