Is there a way to remove everyone from a certain role? All at once?

how to disable the channel mic?

@SteveMagic you can delete the role, which will remove it from everyone.

@HeyDJFelix Not sure what you're referring to, but disabling the "speak" permission for any role / user in a channel setting will prevent them from speaking.

How do you get text to speech to work even if players have it muted?

  • Avatar

@Chimpy you can turn it on for yourself by going into User settings > notifications, then select a TTS option. The TTS 101 article has more info here: https://support.discordapp.com/hc/en-us/articles/212517297-Text-to-Speech-101

Troubleshooting: What if, at the @everyone tab, you misclick "Manage Permissions" and now you can't fix it? Is there a solution?

  • Avatar

@GuardianTempest if you're not the server owner and you affect the @everyone tab, you'll need your server owner to come back and update it. We're looking into a way to make this a little more forgiving for non server owners.

Not sure if this is a bug or just me not understanding things correctly, but...
When I add a new Role and edit it's properties in the Server those I add to that list still don't have permission to chat in any of the channels even though it's specified they can via the Server permissions. I have to manually edit their permissions, channel by channel, to allow them to chat. Am I doing something wrong or is this a legit bug?

@Naga!Sans Channel permissions should override Server permissions. If you have the send messages role disabled in the channel, you'll have to update each role individually.

What if you accidently have denied the ability to change the permissions for everyone in a certain channel? Is there a way to set those channel settings back to default or am i just unable to change the permissions forever?

@Hidel - I am also having this issue. I misclicked "Manage permissions" on the @admin of the channel, and now I can't get into it anyone! Help!

I've made a small hierarchy of roles and stacked them properly in the role settings, but mods with the ability to move and mute are able to do so to roles higher than them, like admin. Is there a way to prevent this?

Why is the #public channel special? I'd like to set my server up so that @everyone by default cannot read text channels but if I turn off Read Messages by default for @everyone, I can't let @everyone into #public.

Excuse me helpful helpers, but do you have a confirmed date on setting up permissions for mobile devices (iOS, Android) and once done so, could they also transfer ownership, delete their own servers, basically do pretty much anything they could (as long as the app itself could support it all?)

All the demands I am setting for Roles and Text Channels and Voice Channels aren't working weather I leave it or set it as "x" or a check mark. So I am unable to stop anyone from doing anything.... this isn't a very good program if the things I am setting don't even work and take affect....

Hey, How do I set a channel to not be able to speak, so an afk channel can work? I'm the owner but I can speak in them so I'm not sure why its not working. If it's set to @everyone EVERYONE shouldn't be able to speak.

If I give a role the ability to mute members does it mute them only for the person who muted them or are they muted for the entire server.

Any future for icons or sub channels?

Seems to be a problem with my admins not being allowed to kick/ban anyone or change nicknames despite being given full admin permissions on my server. Can anyone help? I (the server creator) am the only one that can do this for some reason.

Could you make it so that people with the ability to mute or move other people cant mute or move server owners? Or maybe have the ability to make roles "tiered" like owner: tier 1 (no one can move mute or anything to them). admin: tier 2 ( only owners can mess with them), mods: tier 3 (admins and owners can mess with them), etc. etc.

@Scrub Printer The role list currently acts in a hierarchal manner as you've suggested, but moving and muting aren't part of it. Only kick/ban/nickname are. Might want to be choosy with who you allow to mute / move. =]

Apparently setting certain channels beyond the AFK channel to mute/deafen members does not function properly.

  • Avatar
    Cilantrelle

@Milani it should work normally. What issue are you running into? I can help here, or you can email us at [email protected].

@Cilantrelle: I'm trying to set up two of my server's voice channels to mute and deafen any members who are moved to/join those channels, because that's what those channels are for. However, the setting is not applying, and I and other server members can still converse over the voice chat in those channels. I understand the AFK channel as set in the Server Settings automatically mutes by default. My intent for these two channels I'm trying to format would be to use as quiet corners for any given reason. Art, streaming, movies, what-have-you.
