You can disable Discord's auto-embed feature at any time through your user settings.
1. Click the User Settings Cog.
2. Select the "Text & Images" Tab. Then, un-check the boxes titled "When posted as links to chat." and "When upload directly to Discord."
Pro Tip: If you want to cancel an embed for one specific link, you can wrap the link in '< >' tags.

I think ideally we need an option for a bit of both.
Basically image previews of videos and directly linked/submitted images are far too big, but a mini preview would be ideal if it would then enlarge when moused over. I don't mind the previews of YT videos and image links, but they're way too big, and yet at the same time disabling them outright then has to make everyone open a new tab on their browser.
I need this to be available per post/channel etc.
Is there a current or planned option to disable auto-embed on the iOS mobile app?
I'd love the ability to control this for individual messages in case it's a NSFW link.
@DrFu definitely looking into it. Be sure to upvote over at feedback.discordapp.com!
If you put angle brackets around the link it seems to keep them from embedding. (I'd put an example but it edits them out of the message)
How do you add text after an embedded image?
I'm with @Gorateron. I like the autoembed feature overall but there are a few users in a few channels that post things I just don't want to see, let alone have plastered all over my window until the conversation bumps them off.
@TheWatcher701 Currently there's no option to place text after an embedded image at initial upload, but if you upload multiple images, you can edit the message and then add text after the image.
@Seafoam Completely understand that! If you would ever like to see changes to the embed feature, you can definitely vote up the suggestion at feedback.discordapp.com!
It'd be awesome if discordapp links (discordapp.gg) could also be disabled this way. In cases when you want to write multiple links it's useful to opt-out of that for discordapp.gg as well
@Ac!DGamingHD
Either discordapp.com or discord.gg
@AlexejheroYTB but if I try to <> a discord.gg link the preview does not get disabled. At least not on the Windows Client of Discord
