The Browser version of Discord can hear me just fine, but the desktop version can't allow my mic to work for some reason.

Discord will pick up the mic on my headset, but not the mic built into my camera. I've confirmed that the camera microphone works and is transmitting - Discord even sees it, but will not accept any input from it.

Alright, Discord was picking up my laptop's in-built microphone perfectly fine until a couple of days ago when I hit deafen for about half an hour. After this point I was unable to unmute myself, though I can undeafen. My computer is showing that I'm sharing the microphone with discord. I use the web version on Firefox for what that's worth.

Hello, Discord is and still is not picking up my laptop unless if I restart my laptop and wish the best for Discord to pick up the mic. This has been occuring for the past two weeks. I've done all the suggested ideas above, but no luck.

    I am running a Turtle Beach PX3.

I downloaded the app today along with many other friends because we were fed up with skype. However, this seems to have more issues than that because I can't hear anyone or talk and some other friends, not all, have the same issue and have no idea why. It's just very confusing to us as there seems to be no solution, we tried this tutorial above but still out of luck. looks like back to lame skype it is.

Discord is suddenly giving me grief about changing my voice settings.

The moment I switch to stero mix for input, every kind of input stops going in, but discord doesn;t say there's any issue. Same for if I change the speakers, evrything just stops working. Only fix when that happens is switching back to my normal mic (Blue Yeti) and opening the web-app, joining the voice channel there, then reconnecting back on the desktop app.
Oddly enough I can't hear anyone via the web app, but that may be due to having the desktop app open. I'll also note I never have the web app open while the desktop version is being used. Before I'm suggested the usual stuff I've checked the microphone connections, the volume sliders, resetting voice options, restarted everything that can be restarted etc, think of any typical solution and I've done that.

It's like it's just based off on chance, and idk why it happens. Even when I don't change my voice settings, discord will just stop receiving input, and it's the only thing that's having issues with this, every other program can pick up my mic just fine.

I can't bring any dropdowns for audio; it looks a lot like this: https://www.dropbox.com/s/391meddltjhclwh/Screenshot%202016-06-11%2019.13.43.png?dl=0

If you guys have Realtek Audio Manager, make sure that you have your Mic volume turned up.

@Hikageburner, @wowangels you need to go into the "Advanced" tab at the top.

I had the problem where Discord and others could not hear me but I fixed it this way:
    1) Went to User Settings
    2) Selected Voice
    3) Selected Advanced
    4) Clicked "Reset Voice Settings"

Even though I had not changed my settings previously and it had worked previously, this fixed it for me.

I'm pretty sure it's some kind of Discord bug so it might come back but I'm to now know how to fix it when it does.

I seem to have the same problem as everyone else. Mixer (where the mics are plugged in) worked fine through USB the first time I used Discord. Sounded fantastic. Have not been able to get the app to recognize my audio input since. Still works on the browser version, but can't get the app to work anymore. Have tried resetting and restarting and redownloading everything. No luck.

So I've had this issue as well, where my mic randomly stopped working on Discord. Pressed the red bar, did all the steps, nothing helped.

I went into my control panel opened up Realtek HD Audio Manager and noticed my mic was turned all the way down. This happens often after a few hours of Discord use. Not a real problem since it's 2 clicks away, but am wondering how it causes that xD

I have been streaming and text-chatting on discord for a while now, and when I tried to join a voice channel, I was stuck on mute. I turned off streaming mode, disabled it altogether, restarted discord a few times, checked server mute, checked personal mute, reset all audio settings, everything I could think of, and I'm still stuck on mute. Someone else got stuck on mute yesterday and the admin was able to fix it, but the admin is not currently online and hasn't been all day. On the other server I'm in, I can talk just fine, no mute at all. I figure that the admin can probably get me sorted out, but I wanted to let you guys know that this issue exists.

@werew Is the server that you're having the issue on have a bot? Some bots can mute you without indication, and sometimes they don't even show up as a "Server Mute" but just deny you access of speaking.

@Scream Machine, You could check in your User Settings under the Voice tab for your Input Volume. Especially if you have "Automatically determine input sensitivity" checked, these settings can be tampered with.

Remember, though, input refers to your Microphone, and output refers to your Sound Card (whether it be speakers or headphones).

    Hope I could help :)

This seems like a pretty common problem on Discord's end. My mic works fine in Skype and Mumble. Every single time I open Discord, I have to fix it because it won't pick up my mic. Please have someone who knows what they are doing look into the issue.
