    @Ti-Mobeil_de.
Thanks for sharing, but if you assign yourself the role and use your format you will notice that the role doesn’t get pinged.
It looks like you are mentioning it but it won’t actually ping the role.
If that would actually work, anyone could mention any role since coping IDs is nothing you can restrict in any way.

The only way around this atm are bots that make the role mentionable > mention it > make it unmentionable.

Carl-Bot is the best choice imo.
Works great, especially if it’s just for announcements.
You can simply create feeds that will do that and include your arguments.

Anyway being able to mention any role, if you have admin permission on a server, still is a really important thing and should have main priority.

Good news fellas, this has been added yesterday in the Canary version. It's not working that well but I'm pretty sure it will soon.

It's true that it can be helpful to work around it by using conditional mention deletion.

The problem is, of course, by the time the bot reads the message, the ping has already gone out to the server's members with the role(s) that were meant to be protected.

At this point, while we wait for the feature to get some attention, the best thing to do is flat-out make the roles unmentionable until necessary, and then reverting the roles' to their original state.

Two threads were redirected here, and, again, this one is not the same as those two.

But... since they point me to this thread, I really want to have not only Suppress @everyone and @here for servers, but also Suppress @allroles for per-channel bases.

My MMO Guild have daily contests with prizes and stuff. They use @guildmate role. Since i am not interested in those contests, i don't do them, but yet, everytime i have alot of notifications thrown at me because i am @guildmate.

Muting certain channel, doesn't not mute @guildmate notifications. Creating another role for guild-wide contests is bad idea, since we will have to do very big poll.

I absolutely agree that this should be implemented. Recently a big server was raided, every role was mentioned, because I value being able to mention people in roles to inform them of something specific just to them, not the entire server. And it would be inefficient and stupid to just make announcement channels for each individual role, because a) it takes up space, and b) it would become a hassle if people in different roles need to be told the same thing
At the absolute minimum, people with the Administrator permission should be able to mention any role. And here's a problem; this post was made 5 months ago, and has over 3 thousand upvotes. Have we had updates since then? Yes. Have they added this? No. We've gotten mobile indicators and spoilers. Come on discord team, add this already please

I don't understand, why is this not a thing yet? This feature is very important to us, man. Without this, admins and moderators have to swtich the "Allow anyone to @mention this role" option back and forth back and forth again to just mention specific group of people.

We are having a spammer join our server daily and mass mention the few roles that are still pingable because we work with them. Not only that but he also mass mentions people and functions as a self bot and spams our channels. We can only protect our users with bots but those malfunction, sadly. So please, Discord, give us more options to protect our users from useless spam.

It’s been 3/4 of a year and I still don’t understand why this isn’t available yet. This is roughly the amount of time it took for the server folders. Perhaps Discord doesn’t have enough time to implement the many users needs?

I manage a community of over 2,300 members. I have a 'Reaction Roles' bot set up however anytime I need to ping one of these roles I need to manually turn it on, then ping & then turn it off again in the settings to avoid members abusing this.

It's very irritating & inconvenient to keep doing this & I hope a compromise for this is implemented preferably as soon as possible.

I'm keeping my eye on this thread for any news & updates, hope to see some progress made!

This post is a year old but I still think about it here and there cause of how useful this would be.

I seriously don't understand why we don't have this yet. At the very least, allow administrators or even the server owner to be able to mention any role. It's curious how seemingly more difficult features were implemented but something that seems so simple in comparison (and way more neccesary) still isn't.

Snicket is correct, Ti-Mobeil. However I really appreciate the fact that you shared your knowledge with everyone. Hopefully this feature is implemented soon!

@NanoCE no I meant a specific role @mention! Ex: @Student Events - I can make it mentionable, however anyone can then mention it. The warning thing also does not show for custom role mentions, only @here or @everyone!

@AnimeDestroyer It can be done with certain bots, I believe Auttaja can do it, it basically is you do a command, the bot makes the role taggable, tags the role, and then makes it untaggable again.

The one easy checkbox for this for simple end user, is to have allow anyone, and allow those with higher roles. That way at least people without any role can't mention certain roles, and other would need a higher role level? to ping them.

This is definitely something that needs to be implemented, it'd help out all levels if servers no matter how many members.

Can we please have this implemented already, discord staff? It is such an obvious feature that should've been implemented from the beginning. I know I sound 'entitled' or whatever word you'd like to use, but for moderation purposes it's almost a requirement.

discord doesn't seem to care about core features like this, they got the numbers and now sellout like any other startup. They made nice changes in the beginning but never finished any part of their development really. They don't concentrate on voice or chat or permissions/server management. All they do atm is selling out like any other company when they have the opportunity. You basically need a bot for everything. Obvious feature for example is to let people create voice channels but they can't implement this correctly because their permission system is flawed in the first place.

This would be so useful and I've already run into the issue a few times where I find myself wanting some roles to be able to @ specific roles. It was quite surprising to find out this is not actually possible yet. I hope this feature would not be restricted to only admins and moderators but to each role that you set up to allow to @ specific roles.

I hope 3566 upvotes are enough to make the devs see the relevance of such a feature :P

As everyone else clearly said we need this badly, the fact this is by discord staff and it hasn't been planned yet tho.

It's pretty nuts that this isn't a default option.

Without this option, the ability to mention particular rules is absolutely worthless in any server with over 20 people. Those of you suggesting to put rules into place obviously don't manage large communities (or even medium ones for that matter). Such a system is ripe for abuse, and we all know malicious users aren't deterred by something as useless as a Discord ban. Said users can easily create additional accounts, and wait the 10 minute requirement out to continue to grief.

I too would like a permission system like "This cole can mention these roles: [array of roles]".

I would even say in terms of rolling something like this out the easiest first step, which I believe would solve most people's problems with pinging roles would simply be having three sliders:

"Allow anyone with the Administrator permission to @mention this role"
"Allow anyone with the Mention Everyone permission to @mention this role"
"Allow anyone to @mention this role"

This would allow you to limit rolepinging to either:
    - admins, owners or bots with the Administrator Permission, eg. for automated "new Youtube upload" or "stream going live" notifications, or because you only trust Admins to not ping people unnecessarily.
    - trusted moderators who you want to be able to ping everyone but don't trust with full "Administrator" permissions, eg. for giveaways, announcements, etc.
    - all users can ping a role, eg. for users to ping staff members when they require one but the staff are offline.

How is this not a thing yet? Admins should be able to mention any role or at least roles under their rank, even if it's set to "allow anyone mention this role - OFF".
