Given how brain dead and lazy these devs are, not implementing one of the most requested features, I really doubt we’ll ever see this.

I’m getting annoyed because they’ve so far built a great service yet somehow miss such a basic and important feature... with every update I hold my breath and then sigh of disappointment when I notice they still haven’t implemented this.

    It’s absolutely ridiculous.

Please make this happen. It's really hard to moderate big server when we constantly get raider with @everyone @moderators message 10 seconds after they join. If this get through, only certain high position role can @mod

Agh, I googled this because I thought it was possible... I guess not.

Well, I'll lend my support to this suggestion.

Ti-Mobeil_de's workaround still works. Thank you. How is this not a feature yet? Let only certain roles tag other roles.

    Hey there Zleet.

This has been suggested a bunch of times for Discord.

Staff are going to close this and give you the following link this seeing as it's a duplicate thread of the thread below so I'll link the other thread to you before they can because that's just the type of person I am!

The thing I currently do is set up a word blacklist list with YAGPDB automod v2, and set a rule that if someone types something in that list, the message gets deleted and the person gets warned. (i.e. I put @Notified, @Verified etc in the blacklist) I also put a condition that ignores the roles that are allowed to ping it.

Not saying that I don't agree with this, I would love to have this as a feature.

+9999, with an option which role can't mention the specific role. :D

At what point shall we all just boycott discord for still having not done this, now they are just going for monetization via their new server tier system it seems. Already starting to hope for the next best thing to come out and jump ship.

Not sure if this is in the sea of comments on this request, but I think it would make more sense, or maybe in addition to "Mentionable by Administrators", to allow a role to be mentioned by users with roles above it but not everyone.

For what Im getting from this, this has already been implemented into discord. You can set permissions for which role gets to @mention and I believe I have experienced multiple times a warning if more than 50 people are @mentioned before my msg gets sent.

Another way to work around this problem until the Discord Staff is done counting their money

My good friend who is admin with me together on a Discord Server
told me another workaround for that Problem:

You can use the role ID together with a command to ping roles
which have turned off "allow anyone to @mention this role"

I will try to explain it as best I can with my bad english skills:

    1. you have to turn on Dev mode in Discord settings to find out a role ID

      '
    2. now you can right click on a role to find out the ID

    3. as you can see here the option "allow anyone to @mention this role" is turned off

    4. but with the command   <@&[Role-ID]>you are still be able to ping the role.

    5. As you can see here:

Of course I am aware that this is not a permanent solution either
and it's just a matter of time before the trolls find out.
And to be honest, I myself will often use the other way described with:
    - "@mention role"-Option ON
    - insert a previously created post
    - and quickly set the option OFF again
Still, I wanted to share my knowledge with you.

    [Sarcasm: ON]
Even if it is extremely difficult, we should not give up hope
that the Discord Staff will one day start looking through their own support forum
and finally integrate one of the ideas you mentioned into Discord.
    [Sarcasm: OFF]

    Regards,
    your Ti-Mobeil

I cannot see why this wouldn't solve the issue for everyone:

    We already have:
"Allow anyone to @mention this role"

Then to complete the set discord could add:
"Allow anyone with the 'Mention Everyone" permission to @mention this role" or
"Allow anyone with the 'Administrator' permission to @mention this role"

This would fix the issue for most people's use cases (for trusted mods and above to ping roles without everyone else being able to spam-ping) and surely wouldn't be hard to implement?

This wouldn't interfere with colour roles as long as the color role didn't grant the 'Mention Everyone' or 'Administrator' permission

It doesn't need to be a full-blown 'This role can be pinged by these specific roles' permissions system.

So one of the comments is that it has been around since 2016, is there proof about that?

U can simply make new roles, then take their permission for tagging everyone and your problem would be solved, therefore having only certain roles ability to tag @everyone and @here.

I find it easiest to set everyone into certain roles on channel and then adjust the settings u want for them, getting the issue with someone who shouldn't use @everyone solved.

    I don't see the point?
If you don't want to be ping, make it clear to your members (by writing a rule in a "rules" channel for example).
Or suppress all mentions from your server, so you avoid to be pinged. But again, I fail to see why someone would do that?

    Hope it helps.
