Got the same problem today, tried different options to even remove it completely with Revo Uninstaller Pro and reinstall Discord but it offers no solution. The only thing that is useful is the web version, but this is not workable because I need it for the game Star Trek Online because a lot of communication (speech) is done via the desktop version.

Two days ago I submitted a ticket to the support and I received an email with a possible solution that did not offer a solution. After answering that it was not a solution, there was no answer. The ticket is still open, this is the possible solution that they offered (and did not solve for me)
    1) Temporarily disable antivirus programs and firewalls > Terminate all Discord processes in Task Manager
    2) Completely remove and clear Discord from your system by deleting these two folders:
    %AppData%\Discord
    %LocalAppData%\Discord
(You can find these folders by following the steps in this support article)
    3) Restart your PC > Disable antivirus programs and firewalls one more time
    4) Run the Installer

I am still waiting for an answer and solution because the web version does not offer a permanent option for use in the Star Trek Online game as Fleet leader

@Damien Somehow that's works for me. I just deleted all discord files on %appdata% and %LocalAppData%. In my case, the discord folder on %appdata% cannot completely deleted, it's still have the current version/recent update folder that maybe corrupted while I update the discord (Folder named 0.0.306). so for the solution is :
    1. delete %AppData%\Discord
    2. i moved that (0.0.306) folder to my desktop
    3. delete %LocalAppData%\Discord
    4. Restart my PC
    5. Temporarily disable my windows defender
    6. Download current version of discord from the homepage
    7. Automatically the discord will update the (maybe in my case) corrupted data
and now its run perfectly normal

Nice, I followed the steps you indicated, but before starting up Discord I did delete the folder on Desktop, let Revo Uninstaller Pro run to make sure everything was gone from Discord. Discord does its update with Kaspersky Total Security disabled once that is done I switch Kaspersky Total Security back on and then Discord keeps on connecting, so it is in a connection loop. If I switch Kaspersky Total Security off again, the connection will be made and I can continue to use Discord. Until I close Discord, when restarting Discord I have to close Kaspersky Total Security again temporarily until the connection has been established to restart Kaspersky Total Security.

The problem is now completely solved, an update of Kaspersky Total Security had changed a few settings in his program management, that setting was the problem, I changed it back to questions and now Discort works as before.

I will try to explain it on the basis of my Kaspersky, my version is in Dutch, with photos. 1: choose SETTINGS at the bottom left /

    2: choose protection

/ 3: choose program control here

    / 4: choose manage programs

/ 5: search for Discord and Github and set the right side network to ASK FOR ACTION, the orange question marks should come to stand

It worked for me, that is also the reason that I have added the pictures, then I fear that there might still be a problem somewhere else or at Discord. For me, Discord works normally now.

But it may be that old data from Discord has been left behind and this in particular in the Windows registry, this will not be deleted if you just delete Discord. To effectively remove discord and also the registry entries I used Revo Uninstaller Pro, what you could possibly do (if you don't have Revo Uninstaller Pro) is to use CCleaner which can also clean up the registry. But I cannot tell whether it works in the same way as the program I use. CCleaner can be found on the following link and is also available in a free version, https://www.ccleaner.com/ccleaner

sorry for the late reply, some reason the email got mark as spam, probably due to the links above.

I just give up on discord and move forwards to wards #IRC.

just tried it, it doesn't works. I personally use anti-rootkit huorong-sword to access the regedit and still fails. I like how discord could not even make a uninstall launchers.

    Hi,

Apparently more people are bothered by this problem, but removing Discord's app folder (s) does not mean that everything has been removed from Discord and certainly the entry of Discord still remains in the registry. Let this be the possibility that reinstalling Discord will get in the way. Just searching the registry for anything from Discord is not an option as it can destroy the entire registry since this is a rather specialized job and can be done better by experienced people who know what they can or cannot do in the registry . Therefore, it is better to use certain programs to remove discord and also remove the rest files in the registry, as I mentioned in a previous post I use Revo Uninstaller Pro for that work. There is another option to achieve the same result using Ccleaner: remove the app folder from Discord - start Ccleaner and select register (make sure all brewers are closed as well as all open folders)

    - select scan at bottom left for problems, this may take a few seconds, then click on the bottom right Selected Troubleshoot, now you will be asked to save the old settings and here it is up to you whether to save it or not to save it to the registry later If you want to fix it, you can do that at a place of your choice

. However, if you do not want to save it, choose Fix All Selected Errors

    - after all errors have been corrected, close Ccleaner and restart the PC

. When reinstalling Discord, however, you will have to temporarily close your anti-virus program, here the Windows protection program will take over for the time being (Defender for those who use Windows), now Discord should install and update itself normally when starting up Discord. Now restart your anti-virus program, restarting your PC is not really necessary but you can do this if you wish. Discord still does not work and does not want to update because it is still in the same loop, an exception may have to be made in the firewall so that Discord can always access the internet when using it. The previous post explained how I did that at Kaspersky Total Security. Sorry for maybe bad English or grammar but everything has been translated by Google, the program Ccleaner that is used is in Dutch but can also be put in English, for the photos that are used it shouldn't be a problem. Ccleaner is available in different versions, so also in a free version that can only be used for home users, I do not want to advertise it, but I use it regularly and can be found at the following link https://www.ccleaner.com/ccleaner for the slim version https://www.ccleaner.com/ccleaner/builds

Thx, I use IObitUninstaller, same effect.

What seems to do the trick...
after cleaning AND re-booting AND re-launching the install AND get being stuck AGAIN.

Kill the installer, then go to:
    D:\Users\SuperUserN\AppData\Local\Discord\app-0.0.306

Right click Discord.exe .. go to compatibility tab...

    Do the yellow things...
    then change DPI
    to "system advanced"

    Reboot again.
    that should solve it.

    ______

    Hope
    it
    Help

Nice solution, apparently there is a different solution for everyone, I was sufficiently helped with the solution I had applied. As I posted earlier when using Kaspersky Total Security. This, your solution might help others
